EDA ONIYO CHURCH

THE HISTORY OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, EDA ONIYO EKITI
When Mr. Omolewa Joseph Olufemi was transferred from Iye Ekiti to Eda Oniyo in 1998 as a teacher, there was no church there.  He used to trek from Eda Oniyo to Iye for service for about three months. One day he saw Mrs. Awoyemi a nursery worker at Eda Oniyo and through their discussion, he knew that the woman was an Adventist. Mr. Omolewa advised the woman to be coming to his house for service.
In 1999, the two families started worshipping God on Sabbath in Mr. Omolewa’s house and when it got to the hearing of the District Pastor then, Pastor Rufus Atoki, he was so happy.
In 2003, he conducted a crusade at Eda Oniyo for two weeks, at the end of this crusade three (3) people were baptized. This made the Pastor to decide to find a land for the church. In February, 2004 Pastor Atoki and Mr. Omolewa went to Kabiyesi Oba Awolola the Eleda of Eda Oniyo-Ekiti to seek for land.
The king gave us a plot of land free and advised us to meet the Edi Ilije in Eda Oniyo who could give more if we needed additional land. When approached, the Ilije’s family headed by chief Eisinkin gave us more land. In early 2004, the District built a lamb shelter for the church at Eda Oniyo Ekiti to worship.
The following pastors have worked in the church: Pastor Kolawole, Pastor Ajiboye, and Pastor Lanre Olajide
The current District pastor, Pastor D. S. Aborisade usually visits the church and usually sends delegates to the church every Sabbath. Pastor Aborisade, D. S. was also instrumental to the building of a new church for Eda Oniyo.
