OMUO OKE CHURCH

THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH,
OMUO-OKE EKITI
Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Omuo Oke started with mere gathering of people who devoted their life time and all what they could for the proclamation of the gospel of Christ in the year 1941.
Mr. Kola Popularly known as Baba Emmanuel, a trader from Otun-Ekiti, was invited by a friend (an herbalist) in Omuo. After six months, he went back to Otun-Ekiti where he brought Samuel Abraham Ola (father to Pastor Dr. J. A. Ola). They were traders.
These group of devoted minded personalities formed a Branch Sabbath School. They gathered every Sabbath to worship. More people from Otun-Ekiti came to join the church through Mr. Kola i.e. Baba Emmanuel”.
These were foundation members of the church: Mr. Kola, Mr. Abraham Ola, Mr. Adebayo, Mr. John Ayaniyi, Bro. Ajide (Baba the Circle), Mr. Jacob Agboola, Mr. Olasehinde Michael, Pa. Daniel Ajiboye, Pa. Agbede Kode, Pa. Julius Oyeyemi, Pa. Kola Adedoyin, Pa. Bayo Elepo, Pa. Aransioluwa, Mr. Aborisade, Pa. Owolabi Elijah, Pastor Alabi was the District Pastor.
Any teacher in Adventist School was made either Sabbath School teacher or the Pastor e.g. Mr. Oyinloye and Mr. Abioye E. O., all lived at Kota in Omuo-Ekiti. The church in Omuo Oke started in a house made with bamboo. In the year 1954, a plot of land was borrowed and shofars were made as seats, there they worshpped every Sabbath. Pastor (Dr.) J. A. Ola came to Omuo Oke for public outreach in the year 1995 of which 118 souls gave their lives to Christ. And they were baptized.
As the population increased, they planned to have a building on a plot they borrowed, when it could no more contain the members, they started to plan for a standard place of worship. To the glory of God, the building project was completed through financial assistance from people e.g. Elder Deji Adeleke, and the defunct South West Nigeria conference. Pastor Jimoh Ibrahim was the church Pastor then, the church was organized in the year 1997 and late Pastor Taiwo Ishola was the District Leader while Pastor Aina E.O. was the church Pastor.
